Chapter 14 – The Beginning of Baby Food
Gail had finally graduated from breast milk and started eating baby food. For breakfast, he had oatmeal soaked in milk. For lunch, he had oatmeal soaked in milk. For dinner, he had oatmeal soaked in milk. Gail ate the same food three times a day for six days straight. Then, during the breakfast on day seven....
I’ve had enough. This is going to make me sick!
They keep feeding me the exact same food every day and it doesn't even taste good. I'm not expecting it to be tasty. However, you would normally add the other ingredients like vegetable, meat, or fish to baby food, right? You finely chop those ingredients and simmer it until soft. That’s how you make baby food.
I mean, are they not thinking about nutritional balance at all?
Are you stupid? Hey, are you stupid?
. . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Yeah, I forgot that this is a world of low intelligence. Even so, I’ve never thought it would affect me this way. There’s no other choice. I have to appeal that I want to eat something else.
“Okay, Gail! Say aaah~!” (Aina)
Aina brought the spoon to Gail’s mouth but he refused to open it.
“Come on, Gail. You need to eat properly.” (Aina)
“Hump!” (Gail)
“I wonder what happened to Gail. He refused to open his mouth.” (Aina)
“Just pinch his nose and he will open his mouth for air.” (Arnold)
Hey, Arnold! What the hell are you saying? You muscle-brain bastard!
“Yeah, maybe I should try to pinch his nose.” (Aina)
Aina!? Don’t tell me you are a muscle-brain, too.
This is bad. They will seriously pinch my nose and shove the food into my mouth at this rate. Oh, there's something that looks like scrambled eggs on Bent's plate who's sitting next to me.
Gail grabbed a handful of scrambled eggs and put them in his mouth.
*smack*
Ouch, did he just hit me!?
Gail glared at Bent.
"Wh-What? You are at fault for stealing my food." (Bent)
It's true that it was wrong to take his food without permission, but you normally wouldn't hit babies, would you? He also didn’t hold back at all.
Gail intensified his glare.
“Hic….” (Bent)
Oh, he started to cry. This is why you should not mess with an old man who had gone through numerous run-ins with his boss. But now that I think about it, Bent is only seven years old. I guess I overdid it a little.
"Okay, stop there! Don't fight! Maybe Gail just wants to eat the same food as everyone else." (Aina)
That's right! You are correct, Aina. I don't even want to look at oatmeal anymore.
"Why don't you let him try some?" (Arnold)
The muscle-brain Arnold recommended a regular meal to a toddler who had just started weaning without hesitation.
"Is he going to be okay? Isn't it too early?" (Aina)
"Well, let him try and we will see later." (Arnold)
Hell yeah! I can graduate from that milky oatmeal with this.
“I guess it’s fine if just a little bit.” (Aina)
Aina shared a small portion of her food with Gail.
Finally, my first real food in a year!
*munch* *munch* *munch*
Oh, it’s delicious…. isn’t it?
Hmm, it’s kinda unsatisfactory….
But well, it’s definitely better than the oatmeal at least.
*munch* *munch* *munch*
This is tough….
*munch* *munch* *swallow*
I could swallow it at last. I still only have a few teeth so it takes extra time to chew the food.
“Oh, he really ate it!” (Aina)
"See? You will never know until you actually try it." (Arnold)
"You are right. I'll see what I can do about his lunch." (Aina)
"Hey, John! Stop watching Gail or you will be late for school." (Arnold)
"Oh, it’s true. I'm off!" (John)
*munch* *munch* *munch*
The eldest son --- John, seems to have started attending school this year. Yeah, there are schools in this world, too.
"Bent, if you're done crying, go learn how to read and write letters. If you don't learn them quickly, you'll be embarrassed when it's time for you to attend school. Sarah, I leave him to you." (Arnold)
Bent’s maid is called Sara, huh.
*munch* *munch* *munch*
Are you going to study the letters?
*munch* *munch* *munch*
Where? Where are you doing that?
"Come on, Master Bent. Let's go back to your room." (Sara)
"Hic.... I get it...." (Bent)
Bent, still crying, was taken out of the dining room by Sara.
Oh, I see. They're going to study the letters in Bent's room.
Today is a really good day. I'm full and I've heard some good information. I'll have to come up with a plan to get Misha to take me to Bent's room tomorrow.
Gail also ate a normal meal for lunch and dinner that day. However, the next day, he broke his stomach and had to go back to baby food again.
